It is used in fresh and sea water, as well as in KCl and salty-saturated systems. Xanthan gum’s high capacity produces an optimum cleaning of drilling hole in low-speed annular zones. Highest penetration level is obtained in order to reduce pressure losses for maximizing hydraulic power and slimming, achieving the minimum viscosity in the drill or bit. It can be used with all usually used additives and it will appropriately suspend thickener materials. Contaminant agents like gypsum, anhydrite, CO2, H2S and salt do not affect product’s viscosity. Besides, it is not affected by lignosulfonates.
